Hello everyone!
Today I want to show you the cards I made after I finished class 8, Seasonal scene building. Given by the very talented Nichol Spohr.
A class that learned me more about scene building. Although I had in mind what was meant by scene building, I learned more about this subject. Scene building wasn't only as obvious as you would think. This made it a very fun and nice class!
There are different ways to make a project with scenebuilding. For example:
- Masking a scene
- Oversized scenes
- Background building
- a Shaker scene
In this blog, I want to show an example of masking a scene and a shaker scene. I really had a lot of fun making these both cards! And I certainly will make cards later to do the other scene buildings techniques.
For these two cards I used wintery scenes and both cards are 5 by 7 inch.

This first card is an example of masking a scene. I used masking paper to mask of some pieces of the trees. This gives more depth to an image, even if it is a one layer card. The most important thing to remember when you use this technique is to start with the front image, and to work your way to the back. So I started with the green tree with white embossing, next the two blue/purple trees with gold embossing, next the two orange trees and last I stamped the light green tree with white embossing. That gives this beautiful cluster of trees.
I used splattering of gold to give the card more interest. And I placed some white glitter stars. Last I stamped a sentiment with gold embossing powder.
I haven't used this technique of masking paper before, but it is very nice and with beautiful results! So I definitely use this more. Do you like to work with masking paper?

Card number two is obviously the shaker scene. 😄 I really had a lot of fun making this card. Ah well, I love shaker cards!
For this card I used a new layering stencil set from Altenew, really a great and versatile set to work with. I made a wintery scene and as you can see it gives a dimensional look for the background. For the mountains I used some Shimmer relief paste to give them a more snowy look. I didn't want them to be too nicely inked.
I made a frame from white glitter paper. I backed this up with two extra white frames and foamtape, so I gave enough room for the shakerbits. I used clear iridescent sequins to give it a bit of a snow/ice look. The sentiment I stamped on the acetate because the background is busy enough as is. I framed the shakerpart on dark blue and gold paper before I adhered it to my white card. The dark blue embossed "special delivery" I secured to the card with gold thread for something extra.

This was it for class 8. I had a great time following this class and making these cards. I really hope you all like this blog and the two cards I made.
I hope to see you next time!
All products used for these cards are from Altenew.
