How Backgrounds Change the Feeling of a Card | Altenew Asters | Beautiful Blossoms Challenge

Before I tell you more about my cards—yes, there are two this time—I want to thank everyone who joined our previous challenge. The gallery was filled with gorgeous floral creations, and seeing all your beautiful entries truly made our day. I hope many of you will join us again this month!

For today’s cards, I used almost all Altenew products and took inspiration from the optional mood board. The bold blue-purple flower immediately caught my eye, so I used that striking color combination as the starting point for both designs.

I chose the Craft-A-Flower: Asters Layering Die Set and created each flower twice because I wanted to see how the same flowers would look on two completely different backgrounds. It always fascinates me how changing only the background can completely change the feeling of a card.

My cards

For the first card, I created a soft yellow ink-blended background with a subtle script stencil and a woven circle that adds texture without taking attention away from the flowers. The bright yellow creates a cheerful, sunny feeling and allows the blue-purple asters to become the real stars of the design.

For my second card, I chose a warm orange background and added a gold frame behind the floral arrangement. Although the flowers are exactly the same, the different background completely changes the atmosphere. The orange and gold tones create a richer, warmer feeling while still letting the flowers take center stage.
