Hello, my sweet crafty friends!
Christmas in July is still in full swing, and I couldn't resist making another pair of festive cards. I challenged myself to create two elegant shaker cards, each with its own unique atmosphere while using many of the same products.
Although both cards feature poinsettias and lots of sparkle, they each tell a very different Christmas story.
Card 1 – A Warm Christmas Welcome
For my first card, I created a festive wreath filled with soft foliage and berries, finished with a dimensional poinsettia in warm pink tones. Behind the wreath I added a shaker window with sparkling sequins that catch the light beautifully.
The soft green stenciled background keeps everything fresh while allowing the warm pink/reds and golds to shine. I love how this card feels welcoming and cozy, almost like opening the front door of a beautifully decorated home during the holidays.
Card 2 – Elegant White & Gold Christmas
My second card took me completely outside my comfort zone.
Instead of lots of colour, I focused on white, gold and texture. The background was stenciled with Antique Gold Pigment Ink, while the decorative frame and sentiment add luxurious gold accents. The softly inked poinsettia became the focal point, and a shaker element filled with sparkling crystals adds just enough movement and elegance.
This card reminded me that sometimes a limited colour palette can create just as much impact as a colourful design.
Looking back at these two cards, I'm reminded how much the atmosphere of a card can change simply by choosing a different colour palette. One feels warm and festive, while the other feels peaceful and elegant—and I love that both can celebrate Christmas in their own way.
