Some stamps just make you want to start coloring, and Build-A-Garden: Softly Sketched Blooms is one of those stamps for me. I love its sketchy lines, and I wanted to give these flowers fresh, warm colors that would complement that style.
I started by coloring the florals in soft coral, pink, and yellow, with gray leaves to support the flower colors without adding more competition. I wanted the flowers to be the stars of this card, so I kept the rest of the color palette simple.
The coral background was chosen to support the colors in the flowers. It needed some texture, so I used the beautiful Deco Damask Pattern 3D Embossing Folder, but you can use any fine embossing folder of course. But something was still missing, so I added a very thin layer of Rose Gold Shimmer Relief Paste with my finger, gently touching the highest parts of the embossed pattern. It gives the background a subtle shine without overpowering the design.
I placed the sentiment in the center, surrounded by the flowers, and finished the card with Crystal Clear Gem Sparkles in the centers of the larger flowers and a few smaller ones.
I love how the warm colors, subtle texture, and little touches of shimmer come together. Sometimes the background doesn't need to make a statement of its own. It just needs to help the flowers shine. 💗
